Neighbourly Ride helps locals meet on a regular, fun and social ride. Each week is a different route exploring back streets, parks and discovering new things to see and do in the area. We reward riders for regularly participating to help them make positive changes in their lives; gain confidence, feel happier, more connected, exercise more or meet new people.

Personal experiences with Neighbourly Ride
It changed my life!
How lucky was I to see a flyer on a lamp post at traffic lights for a cycling group called Neighbourly Ride.
When I got home, I went on the Bunchrides app and have never looked back – it changed my life!
Recently arrived to Australia
I am new to Australia, having left family and friends behind to be with my daughter and I knew no one.
After the first Sunday ride, I knew I was with a very special group of people.
A friendly group of riders
Everyone is made to feel welcome — whether you’ve never ridden a bike, haven’t ridden in a long time or are an experienced rider.
Experiencing Melbourne
I see parts of Melbourne I never would have on my own. It is a fun and healthy way to spend your Sunday mornings.
Making friends in the community
The coffee after rides has given me friends outside of cycling and helped me feel a sense of belonging in the community I now live in.
I also enjoy meeting people of all ages — from children to older adults — it’s a real mix.
Volunteering as a Ride Caboose
I am now a Ride Caboose, along with many others who trained to become Ride Leaders and Caboose for our weekly rides. It’s all been super fun, thank you Andrew and Sue!

New to riding
As a new and nervous rider, I was definitely worried about joining Neighbourly Ride.
But I needn’t have worried, I've had nothing but positive experiences on the rides I’ve been on so far.
Speed is not an issue
I’ve always been at the back of the group, being the slowest. My skills are very limited (I’m slow, can’t signal, etc.), but it’s never been an issue.
Everyone is welcoming
Everyone has been genuinely welcoming, supportive and encouraging. It never feels like a race, everyone just wants to have a nice time and then enjoy a coffee afterwards.
Riding with confidence
I wouldn’t be on my bike without Neighbourly Ride and I look forward to many more Sunday morning rides as I gradually improve my skills and confidence.

Helping newbies ride
I am enjoying the Neighbourly Ride. I am very thankful to the organisation and volunteers for all your hard work.
Gaining confidence
This is an amazing initiative helping newbies in gaining confidence in cycling but also connecting and meeting new people.
Discovering new routes
So far I have met Michael, Cliff, and Shaun and they have been great and showing us around the Hampton and surrounds, and discovering new routes.
Learning bike riding etiquette
They also teach us how to ride in group, proper ride etiquette, and they also checked my bike for me. I also enjoy the coffee and chats. They are very cool.
